Remember when every Jewelry Store window had 70% off signs? Not anymore, now they all have a sign that says “Buying gold, silver, diamonds and more!” They all claim to pay you the most. So is it true or not, I asked my son who owns Zalman’s Treasures! He said “most jewelers will pay a fair amount”! So what about mailing your jewelry away, not so much I’m told! Of course, if you go into the store they have the opportunity to sell you something new and make even more money. The markup on new jewelry is very high otherwise they wouldn’t have all these crazy % off sales! The newest gimmick is Cash for Gold Parties at home! Now you can make more money from your friends that attend your party! Wow, what a deal for the hostess! One store in Mesa, AZ. has an ad that says 25% more in cash, 25% off diamonds and 50% more for store credit! I smell those greenbacks just waiting to grease your palm, don’t you? No, so you aren’t buying into this idea, it’s here to stay as long as gold prices are at the level they are. Which today is $1,743.31 per ounce, down from the high of $1,889.70!
